Wow, what a day! Our thanks to Wright Chiropractic Health Center for presenting such a fun and successful day. We couldn't have done it without them or all the other sponsors, vendors, Weatherford Blue Belles, and Parker Paws volunteers who donated so generously. We had 287 runners, an increase of 67% from last year, and raised $11,838 for the shelter pets!

The overall female winner was Tara McCall from Weatherford, completing the 5K in 21.11.1 minutes. The overall male winner was Angel Soriano from Weatherford, completing in 17.55.2 minutes. The masters female winner was Iris Stagner from Mineral Wells, finishing in 24.42.7 minutes. The masters male winner was David Holtsford from Lipan, completing in 19.22.5 minutes. David completed second overall as he did in last year's Hot Dog Trot.

Erin McCutcheon was the first 5K participant running with a dog to cross the finish line, with her black lab who enjoyed a dip in the wading pool as a reward. Our youngest 5K finisher was Ashtya Sweatt, only 8 years old.

Complete results for the 5K are available online at Run Time Racing.

Photos are now available online at Movin' Pictures, our official event photographer. Click on Hot Dog Trot.

The winner of the dog costume contest was Vickie Caffy's Annabelles, a chihuahua/pomeranian mix, who came an an Indian maiden. Second place when to Brandi Wright's Hailey, a bassett/shepherd mix, all decked out as a pink cowgirl. The third place winner was Michael Duly's Bella, a husky, sporting a carefree summer sun dress. Honorable mention was awarded to Kelly Butent's Max, a black and white mixed breed who made the perfect cow! Our thanks to our terrific judges from Theatre Off the Square who made what we know was a difficult decision, and to Tractor Supply who provided toys for all the entrants. All of the costumed entries were so clever and fun.

The winner of our first annual dachshund races was Nancy Bradbury's Soko, a 4-year old female from Lubbock. The second place winner was Elisabeth Kaylon's Sunshine, a one-year old female from Trophy Club. Our thanks to all the contestants for our inaugural dachshund races and to Memory Weavers who donated one of their gorgeous personalized photo keepsakes to the first place winner.

Jerry's Auto Group is big sponsor this year.

The Parker County Cruisers had a wonderful display of Classic Cars. Jerry's Auto Group, a big sponsor of our event, brought out the newest versions, outfitted to transport your pets in style. They also distributed dog toys and treats to all the visitors.

Howard McClurkin was our emcee for the day. You could find him throughout the venue announcing our many activities. Butch Cappel of K9 Pro Sports demonstrated professional dog training and protection techniques. Jump Xtreme brought out two of their most popular bounce houses for our guests to enjoy and King Koncessions offered the best snow cones and snacks to keep everyone satisfied.

Le Chateau K-9 donated their nail trimming proceeds, as did Rhonda Hole Photography who provided souvenir photos at her booth. The Weatherford Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association brought McGruff to meet the kids, and also offered child fingerprinting. Mr. Doodlebug (the clown) with the Parker County Hospital District Outreach Program provided face painting, and Romeo, a lovable poodle, puckered up with doggie kisses for a dollar!

WalMart donated refreshments for the runners, with Monticello Spring Water Company stocking the water tables. Numerous vendors offered a variety of services and products, including the Weatherford Farmer's Market, Advanced Animal Fencing, The Bakery & Sandwich Shoppe, Memory Weavers, Veema Nutrition, Less Stress Massage, Unicorn Tales & Treats, Robin Clark's Scentsy, Christina Wells' Celebrating Home and Chris Lee's Pampered Chef.

Last, but certainly not least, Stella, one of our foster dogs, found her new home while at the event!

I can't thank everyone enough and apologize for any omissions. We hope everyone had a fun time and we look forward to seeing you next year!

Our thanks to all our sponsors for 2010:
